The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has implemented several significant changes for its members in the year 2025. These changes aim to simplify and digitalize the PF settlement process. Under the EPFO 3.0 version, withdrawing, transferring, and claiming PF funds has become easier than ever. With features like auto-claim settlement, digital correction system, and UPI-based withdrawals, EPFO has fully transitioned to the digital era.

PF Funds Available Without Forms
Now, members will no longer need to fill out any forms to withdraw PF funds. The new system is fully automated. The funds will be deposited directly into their bank account. In the future, PF withdrawals will also be available through ATMs and UPI. This means that as long as you keep your UAN details updated, the withdrawal process will be completed automatically.
New PF Withdrawal Rules
Previously, there were 13 different categories for partial withdrawals, which have now been reduced to just three: essential needs, household needs, and special circumstances. Withdrawing PF for needs like education, marriage, and illness has become much easier. Members can now withdraw 100% of their PF balance, including both employee and employer contributions. Withdrawals are allowed up to 10 times for education and 5 times for marriage. However, a minimum of 12 months of service is required.
Automatic PF Transfer Upon Job Change
Now, there’s no need to fill out Form 13 for PF transfer upon job change. This process will be completed automatically using your Universal Account Number (UAN). As soon as the new employer updates your joining date and your first salary is credited, the PF will automatically transfer from your old account to the new one. Previously, this process was manual and required approval from the old employer.
EPFO 3.0 Version
The EPFO launched the EPFO 3.0 platform in 2025, adding several digital features. Members will now have access to an online correction system, allowing them to correct names, date of birth, or other details through OTP verification. Additionally, the auto-claim settlement feature will ensure that PF advance claims are settled within 72 hours.
Relief in Final PF Settlement
The EPFO has implemented a part-payment system for PF settlement. Previously, if the employer failed to contribute for a period, the entire claim would be rejected. Now, in such cases, a partial payment will be made, and the remaining amount will be released later without the need for a new application. This will virtually eliminate the problem of claim rejections.
Auto-claim settlement limit increased to Rs 5 lakh
The auto-settlement limit for PF advance claims has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This means that claims up to ₹5 lakh will be processed within 72 hours without any manual scrutiny. This will provide quick relief to members and avoid lengthy processes.

Additionally, the Employees Enrolment Campaign 2025 has been launched on November 1. This campaign aims to bring employees who were excluded from PF coverage under the ambit of PF coverage between 2017 and 2025. Approximately 80 million employees are expected to benefit from this campaign.
