There’s a major update for students studying under the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE). The board has taken a significant and historic decision. Now, the Rajasthan Board’s Class 10th and 12th board exams will be held twice a year. This change will be effective from the upcoming 2026 academic session. The board states that this move will give students a better opportunity to improve their performance and reduce exam pressure.

It’s worth noting that the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) is constantly implementing new regulations, and everyone should stay updated with these updates, as this could lead to difficulties. This new update by the board will see two exams held each year.

The first exam will be compulsory, the second will be optional.

According to the board’s new rules, attendance for the first exam will be mandatory for all students. The main exam will be held in February-March. After this, students who wish to improve their scores or have failed in a subject will be given a second chance exam (in May-June). This second exam will be called the “Second Chance Exam.” Students can improve their scores by reappearing in a maximum of three subjects.

Both exams will be based on the entire syllabus.

The Rajasthan Board has clarified that both exams will be based on the full syllabus. This means that the syllabus will not be divided between the exams. However, only the best of two attempts will be considered in the final result.

This will benefit students in that if they do not perform well the first time, they will have a chance to improve before the end of the year.

Even if they fail, they will still have the opportunity to reappear in a subject in the second-chance exam. This will give students time to reappear in the main exam, which will be held in February-March of the following year. This will give students time to prepare without wasting a year.

The Board has also clarified that students who are absent from the first exam will be allowed to appear for the second chance exam only if they present a certificate from a competent authority, either medical or issued by the District Education Officer.

Fees and Other Rules

Students will have to pay the same fees for the second chance exam as for the main exam. Furthermore, the exam pattern, syllabus, and study plan will remain the same. Rajasthan’s Education Minister stated that this step is a major improvement towards strengthening students’ futures and eliminating exam fear.

This will allow students to prepare better without mental stress and provide them with a golden opportunity to improve their scores.
