Toyota has officially announced that the new-generation 2026 Toyota Hilux will be unveiled globally on November 10, 2025. Teaser videos of the new Hilux, recently spotted at a petrol station in Guatemala, offer a glimpse of its all-new and aggressive design. This new Hilux is not only one of 15 new Toyota cars launching in India by 2030, but it also poses a tough challenge to the Isuzu V-Cross and the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N pickup. Let’s take a closer look at the features this new Hilux brings.
Design
The teaser videos of the new 2026 Toyota Hilux make it look like it’s hit the gym! Its stance appears more aggressive and muscular than ever. You’ll notice upswept headlamps and thin LED DRLs at the front. At the rear, the tail lamps are vertically stacked and feature C-shaped LED elements, giving it a distinct identity at night. However, it remains based on its old ladder-frame platform, and its doors and roof panels remain the same. The front fascia has been completely redesigned, featuring a revised front grille with a mesh design and a more robust and aggressive bumper. The side profile remains the same, retaining the square wheel arches, body cladding, and traditional door handles.

Interior
The new Hilux will feel regal inside. Leaked design patents reveal significant updates to its dashboard and central console. It could feature a larger, 12.3-inch, freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, making your drive even more enjoyable. It could also get a fully digital TFT screen. In terms of comfort, there will be power-adjustable front seats and ventilated seats. The steering wheel will also be redesigned. Features like electrically operated windows and a power tailgate will make it even more convenient. It is said that this new interior and exterior design may soon be seen on the Fortuner as well.
Power and Performance
You won’t be disappointed when it comes to power in the 2026 Toyota Hilux. It will draw power from the existing 2.8-liter diesel engine, known for its reliability. This engine produces approximately 200 horsepower and 420 Newton meters of torque and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. If you choose the automatic variant, the torque figure reaches 500 Newton meters with the 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine is like a reliable friend, standing by you in every situation.
Off-Road Capability
The true hallmark of the Hilux is its off-road capability, and the new model will leave no stone unturned in this regard. Its off-road capabilities are further enhanced with a 4X4 transfer case with high and low range. Features like Active Traction Control and Down-Hill Assist Control are also included. Furthermore, Electronic Drive Control (2WD/4WD) and Electronic Differential Locking systems ensure it remains stable on any terrain. Interestingly, according to leaked information, the new Hilux may also be offered with electric power, although further details are awaited.
