Auspicious Time for Dev Uthani Ekadashi

According to the calendar, the Ekadashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month begins at 9:11 am on November 1st. It will end at 7:31 am on November 2nd. Consequently, the Ekadashi fast will be observed on November 1st.

However, the Parana on Dev Uthani Ekadashi will take place between 1:31 pm and 3:46 pm on November 2nd. During this time, you can break your Ekadashi fast with proper rituals.

How do you awaken the gods?

  1. On Devuthani Ekadashi, one should wake up early in the morning and take a bath. Then, the place of worship should be thoroughly cleaned and sprinkled with Ganga water.
  2. Now, make symbols of Lord Vishnu in the house’s courtyard and cover them.
  3. Then, spread a clean red or yellow cloth on a platform and install an idol of Lord Vishnu.
  4. During the puja, one should offer fruits, water chestnuts, sugarcane, potatoes, radishes, sesame seeds, etc. to Lord Vishnu.
  5. New clothes or a sacred thread should be offered to Lord Vishnu. Then, the story of the Devuthani Ekadashi fast should be heard.
  6. At night, 11 lamps should be lit in the puja room, and prayers should be offered.
  7. Lord Vishnu and his footprints should be worshipped with the family.
  8. Bells and conch shells should be rung to awaken the gods. One should also chant slogans.
  9. In addition, traditional songs are also sung to awaken the gods.
