Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: The Railways has received several suggestions to make the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train more comfortable. The Board has asked the Research Design and Standards Organization to consider these. The Chief Railway Safety Commissioner specified several safety measures when approving the train. These include fire-resistant cables, easily accessible panic buttons, and wiring fault detection devices. These changes are necessary to enhance passenger safety and comfort.
The Railway Safety Commissioner has mandated the use of special cables for systems like CCTV cameras and crash-hardened memory modules to prevent fires. The installation of arc-fault detection devices, a finding from last year’s Darbhanga train fire, has been recommended. There are also instructions to relocate air-conditioning ducts in first-AC coaches from the floor corners to a more suitable location.
Special facilities will be provided to the passengers
The emergency alarm buttons, currently hidden behind the upper berths, have been asked to be shifted to a location more visible and accessible to passengers. The Railway Board stated that the RDSO will prepare standard instructions for the upcoming variants of the Vande Bharat Express. This will strengthen fire and other hazard prevention measures on the train. Additionally, the Board has approved zonal railways to operate 16-coach sleeper rakes at speeds of up to 160 kmph.
As part of the special facilities provided to passengers, the emergency alarm button has been shifted from its hidden place behind the upper berth to a place where it is easily visible and accessible to the passengers. The Railway Board informed that RDSO will prepare standard instructions for the upcoming variants of Vande Bharat. This will strengthen the safety measures against fire and other risks in the train. Along with this, the Board has also given permission to the zonal railways to run 16-coach sleeper rakes at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
