Ladki Bahin Scheme EKYC Suspension: There’s good news for the beneficiary sisters of the Ladki Bahin Scheme. The Maharashtra government has withdrawn its recent e-KYC decision. The state government has temporarily suspended the e-KYC process for the Ladki Bahin Scheme .

In fact, after the introduction of the e-KYC rule, there was resentment among the women benefiting from the Ladki Behen Yojana. To address this, the government has discontinued e-KYC. With the discontinuation of e-KYC, the October installment is expected to arrive in the bank accounts of the Ladki Behen women soon.

Why was the eKYC rule implemented?

The Maharashtra government launched this scheme to empower economically disadvantaged women. However, the benefits of this scheme, launched in 2024, were reaching some unsuitable individuals. Therefore, the Maharashtra government amended the scheme’s rules, making e-KYC mandatory for both the sisters and their husbands or fathers.

E-KYC, conducted using a PAN card, used to verify the husband’s or father’s income. However, some women became upset with this e-KYC rule, leading the Maharashtra government to temporarily suspend it. The Maharashtra government has already helped 25.6 million women under the Ladki Behen Yojana. This scheme also secured significant votes for the Mahayuti government in the legislative assembly. The government has approved a budget of Rs 3,960 crore for this scheme.

Meanwhile, rumors have been circulating for the past few days, suggesting that the scheme could be discontinued. However, Maharashtra government minister Narhari Jhirwal later assured that the Chief Minister’s Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana would not be canceled under any circumstances.
