Toyota GR GT
The main objective of GR GT is to meet the FIA GT3 homologation rules. According to the rule, any GT3 race car must be based on the vehicle that is available on the road. Therefore, GR GT is constructed in such a way that it is suitable for both racing and road.
Toyota has also proved with GR GT3 that it is dedicated to communicating motorsport cars. This approach has already been seen in GR Yaris rally car.
Design
This new model of Toyota is designed to compete directly with the Aston Martin DB12. GR GT’s design is an excellent blend of motorsport engineering and modern technology. The car has light and strong chassis used, designed to conform to GT3 racing rules.
The road car version of this supercar is directly inspired by the GR GT3 V8 prototype, which has already been seen in the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This means that Toyota has adopted “commensurate motorsport cars ”, rather than adjusting production cars for racing.
Engine
However, the GR GT is confirmed to have a V8 engine, which is likely to use hybrid technology. This will not only meet the Global Emission Standards, but will be able to deliver power of around 700bhp.
The GT3 racing car gives around 500-600bhp and weighs around 1,300kg.
Power can reach 700bhp after adding a hybrid system to the road car version.
With this power this supercar will directly challenge the Aston Martin DB12 (671bhp).
Launch
Also, Toyota has set GR GT’s Global Unveiling on 5 December. It will then be revealed to the public for the first time in Tokyo Auto Salon in January.
