Let me tell you that Toyota Fortuner has always made a special place in India with its strength, reliable engine and superb off-road capability. Now Toyota has brought a new SUV regarding this DNA. Engine

The Land Cruiser is the same engine under the FJ’s bonnet that gives the Fortuner a life-threatening, 2.7-liter 2TR-FE, 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine generates around 163 PS power and 246 Nm torque. This engine is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission and part-time 4WD system.

The same engine exists in Fortuner with almost the same power output. The driving experience of both SUVs is largely the same as smooth, refined and adventure-ready.

Suspension

However the Land Cruiser FJ offers the same double wishbone front suspension and 4-link coil spring rear suspension as found in the Fortuner. This means that whether on the road or bumpy roads, FJ offers stable and comfortable rides everywhere.

Although the Fortuner also offers 2.8-liter turbo diesel and hybrid options, the FJ is currently offered only with petrol engines.

Design

The design of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ makes it completely different from the rest of the SUVs. Its boxy profile, round LED headlamps, and high stance remind it of the old Land Cruiser.

If it comes to dimensions, the FJ has a length of 4,575 mm, a width of 1,855 mm, and a height of 1,960 mm. That is, it is about 220 mm smaller than Fortuner (4,795 mm), but 125 mm higher. Its wheelbase is 2,580 mm, slightly smaller than the Fortuner, making it more agile and compact off-roader.

Launch

Now let’s talk about the launch, according to reports, Toyota is going to launch its SUV in the first half of 2026 (Mid-2026). Preparations are underway to begin production in Japan, while its manufacturing base is being built in Thailand.

The possibility of its arrival in India is being raised around 2027. The company has not officially confirmed the India launch, but given Toyota’s Indian lineup and Fortuner’s popularity, its entry is considered almost certain.

If it arrives in India, it will be positioned under Fortuner, making it known as “Mini Fortuner”.
