Winter is approaching and passengers are concerned about cleanliness while traveling by train. In view of cleanliness and comfort for the passengers, Indian Railways has initiated a special project. Along with sheets and blankets, blanket covers are also included.

On Thursday, October 16, Indian Railways has initiated a pilot project. Passengers in AC coaches will now also receive blanket covers. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said the purpose of this initiative is to maintain cleanliness on the trains and make journey more comfortable.

Railways Will Provide Blanket Covers for Cleaning Improvement.

For a long time, passengers have raised questions about whether or not the sheets, pillow covers, and blankets in trains are not regularly cleaned. To remove these doubts and enhance cleanliness, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced that blanket covers will now be provided.

The system will begin with the Jaipur-Asrava Express. If this is successful, the same system will be employed for other trains. The blanket covers will also be printed.

How Often Are Blankets Washed?

In November last year, the Lok Sabha asked how often blankets on trains are washed. The Railway Minister said at least once a month.
