New Delhi: The festive season is underway, bringing a buzz of activity everywhere. People traveling home from faraway lands for Diwali and Chhath are inundated, resulting in a surge of passengers everywhere. Buses and trains are overcrowded. In view of the increased crowds, the North Central Railway, Agra Division, has made extensive arrangements.
Now, a major decision has been taken by the Indian Railways regarding passengers. Extensive preparations have been made for the safety and convenience of passengers at major stations across the division, including junctions. The Railways has announced the running of 52 special trains. These special trains will be operated to cities such as Bihar, Kolkata, Howrah, Lucknow, Udaipur, Delhi, Jaipur, and Bhopal.
A major decision to address the increasing number of passengers
The number of passengers has increased significantly during the festive season, and to accommodate these needs, the Railways has extended the service area of some trains. The Railways has also expanded the service area of four trains. The New Delhi-Agra Cantt-New Delhi Intercity Express has been extended to Gwalior from October 16th to 30th.
In addition, the Etawah-Agra Cantt Memo and Agra Cantt-Jhansi Memo have been extended to Mathura Extension. Additional preparations have also been made for the operation of special trains if needed. The Junction Railway Station sees an average passenger footfall of 50,000 to 60,000.
Diwali and Chhath Puja are typical occasions when the number of passengers at railway stations increases significantly. A temporary holding area of 540 square feet has been created to accommodate the rush of passengers.
Passengers can wait for their trains comfortably here. A passenger assistance center has been set up, providing 24-hour train information. Additional police and commercial staff have also been deployed to ensure security and avoid inconvenience to passengers.
