Same Day Train Ticket Booking: Festivals like Diwali and Chhath are approaching and many people are trying to book train tickets at the last minute. Booking tickets can be difficult, especially when Tatkal tickets are sold out or are not available. However, Indian Railways also offers an alternative way through which passengers can book tickets for same-day travel without using the Tatkal ticket booking system.
If you want to book tickets offline, you can go to a nearby Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter and book tickets. However, it is possible to book tickets for same-day travel through the IRCTC website or app, provided tickets are available. Let us know how this is possible.
How to book same-day train tickets without using Tatkal service?
- Visit www.irctc.co.in and login with your IRCTC User ID and Password.
- Enter your journey start and destination station, date of journey and click on Submit.
- A list of available trains for the selected route will appear.
- By clicking on the name of the train you can see its complete journey and timings.
- Click on any class type (e.g. Sleeper, 3AC, 2AC) to view the fare. This fare is for one adult passenger and includes IRCTC service charges.
- Click on ‘Book Now’ under the train of your choice.
- If you want to select a different train, click on ‘Reset’ and select again.
- Please ensure that the train name and station on the reservation page are correct.
- Enter passenger name, age, gender and berth preference.
- If the passenger is a senior citizen (male 60 years or older, female 58 years or older), tick the box to avail the senior citizen discount. 40% discount for men and 50% discount for women.
- Click on ‘Make Payment’, you will be redirected to the bank’s secure payment page.
- Select your payment mode and bank under payment option.
- Please check your ticket details, fare and seat availability carefully.
- Upon successful payment, your e-ticket will be generated. Download, print, or travel with your digital ticket and valid ID.
