New Renault Kwid Facelift: Launching Soon in India with Updated Design and Advanced Features

The Renault Kwid has always been a popular choice in the entry-level hatchback segment. But now it’s time for a new avatar. The Kwid Facelift has recently been spotted testing, and these spy shots have revealed several glimpses of the car’s interiors and exteriors. Interestingly, the updated Kwid appears to be heavily influenced by the Dacia Spring EV, which is already on sale in Europe.

Exterior

The design of the Kwid Facelift looks more modern and stylish than ever before. The new SUV-style hatchback comes with Y-shaped LED DRLs, pentagonal halogen headlamps and a closed-off grille design. Thick cladding on the body, squared wheel arches and flap-style door handles make it even more attractive. The sloping roofline gives it a sporty look. The design of the steel wheel covers is also quite similar to the Dacia Spring EV.

Interiors

Renault has also completely refreshed the interiors. The most noticeable change is a larger touchscreen infotainment system, expected to be around 10 inches. A new 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a redesigned steering wheel have also been seen.

While the features that will be included in the production model will only be clear after launch, it is certain that the cabin of the facelifted version will be more premium and tech-friendly than before.

Performance

If the Kwid comes in ICE format, it will be powered by the same existing 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces 69 PS of power and 92.5 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5 speed manual and a 5 speed AMT.

Renault already offers a CNG option for the Kwid, but it is not factory-fitted. Instead, government-approved entities retrofit it at the dealer level. The CNG kit costs around ₹75,000 and the company also offers a 3-year/1,00,000 km warranty.

Launch

Given the rapidly growing demand in the electric car segment, Renault may also launch the Kwid EV in India. The base hardware for this could be the same as that used in the Dacia Spring EV. The Dacia Spring EV comes with a 26.8 kWh battery pack, which gives a range of around 220 km (WLTP).

It is available in 45 PS and 65 PS motor options. If the Kwid EV comes to India, it will directly compete with electric hatchbacks like the Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3.
