Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an ambitious initiative of the Central Government that aims to ensure that every family in the country has a pucca house. This scheme was started for the economically weaker sections, but now it has also included urban poor and middle-class families. Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance of up to Rs 2.5 lakh and a subsidy on interest on loans to eligible families. Earlier, this facility was limited to home loan amounts of Rs 3 to 6 lakh, but now it has been increased to Rs 18 lakh.

PM Awas Yojana is not limited only to the house, but along with it, the necessary facilities for modern life are also being provided. Along with the house, essential services like toilet, LPG gas connection, electricity connection, and tap water will also be provided. This will improve the standard of living of people living in both rural and urban areas.

PM Awas Yojana Eligibility and Income Group

The government has placed the families in different categories for this scheme on the basis of income group. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will include only those families whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh. Families with an income of Rs 3 to 6 lakh have been included in the Lower Income Group (LIG). At the same time, families with an income of Rs 6 to 18 lakh will be given benefits in the Middle Income Group (MIG).

PM Awas Yojana Application Process Online

If a family wants to apply online, then they have to visit the official website of the scheme, pmaymis.gov.in. Here, one has to go to the Citizen Assessment section and select their category. After this, the form is submitted by filling in Aadhaar-related information, income details, bank account, and address.

Facility of offline application of PM Awas Yojana

Those who cannot apply online can opt for an offline application. For this, one has to go to the nearest Common Service Center and fill out the form. For this process, the GST fee, along with Rs 25, has to be paid. Apart from this, applications can also be made through banks, NBFCs, and housing finance companies. It is mandatory to submit necessary documents like Aadhar card, PAN card, voter ID, address proof, and income certificate along with the application.
