The registration process for the Kharif 2025 season is going on under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The last date for application for farmers is 30 August. The special thing is that farmers holding a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) automatically get the benefit of this scheme. If you have KCC, then you do not need to visit the bank or insurance company to get separate insurance.

KCC holders are insured automatically

According to the rules of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, registration of Kisan Credit Card holder farmers is done automatically through the bank. Neither the hassle of application nor the worry of premium payment. Everything is done automatically through the banking system. This is the reason why this facility is proving to be a big relief for the farmers.
You will not get the benefit of insurance if you opt out
However, it is important to keep one thing in mind. Those Kisan Credit Card holders who declare ‘opt out’, i.e., not to avail the insurance facility, do not get the benefit of the scheme. Such farmers are deprived of getting compensation in case of crop loss. Therefore, the farmer should think well before opting out, because once out, the loss cannot be compensated.
78.41 crore applications insured so far

According to government data, 78.41 crore farmers have been insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana from the year 2016 till now. Claims worth a total of Rs 1.83 lakh crore have been paid during this period. Enrollment has also increased rapidly. While 3.17 crore farmers got insured in the year 2022-23, this number has increased to 4.19 crore in 2024-25, which is the highest level to date. Applications from non-loanee farmers have also increased from 20 lakh in 2014-15 to 522 lakh in 2024-25, which shows that now farmers have started adopting crop insurance in large numbers.
