The 18th season of the Indian Premier League is over. Royal Challengers Bangalore won their first trophy by beating Punjab Kings in the final. Krunal Pandya was Player of the Match in the final. Suryakumar Yadav was named Best Player of the Tournament.

Apart from these, several other awards were also given out, including the prize for the Best Catch of the Season. This year, it went to Sri Lankan cricketer Kamindu Mendis, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mendis pulled off a sensational catch against Chennai Super Kings on April 25, when he dismissed Dewald Brevis with a brilliant effort.

Kamindu Mendis wins Best Catch of IPL 2025

Kamindu Mendis won the Best Catch of the Season. He faced tough competition from his Sri Lankan teammate Dushmanta Chameera, who also took a good catch against KKR. Mendis won the award and Rs 10 lakh prize money.

Mendis was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 75 lakh in the auction. This was his first season. He played 5 matches, scored 92 runs, and took 2 wickets. Sunrisers Hyderabad, last year’s runner-up, got eliminated early this season.

In IPL 2025, both the Orange Cap and Purple Cap went to Gujarat Titans players. Sai Sudarshan got the Orange Cap and Prasidh Krishna got the Purple Cap. Both got Rs 10 lakh each. Sudarshan was also named Emerging Player of the Year and got another Rs 10 lakh.
