Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched a digital portal. This portal aims to facilitate the natives living in sensitive areas of the state to apply for an arms license. The Chief Minister says that this step will further strengthen the partnership between the government and responsible citizens. Through this, citizens will also be able to cooperate in maintaining law and order.

Only natives will be able to apply
The Chief Minister clarified that only the natives of Assam will get the right to apply through this digital portal. Especially those people who live in sensitive areas and who are in real need of security. The government believes that the participation of such responsible and honest people will further strengthen the security system of the state.
Strict selection and investigation process
The government has made it clear that no one will get a weapon license easily. For this, a multi-layer and thorough investigation will be done. There should not be any criminal case registered against the applicant, and he will have to be mentally completely healthy. This process has been kept so that no wrong person can misuse the weapon.
Weapon training will be mandatory
Chief Minister Sarma said that it will be mandatory for those seeking a license to take weapon training. Along with this, they will also have to prove in which situation they are facing danger. The purpose of this system is to give a license only to those who really need it.

The government will give only a license, not weapons
The government has also made it clear that it will not provide weapons to anyone. Only licenses will be issued under the provisions of the Indian Arms Act.
