According to the statement issued by the Airport Authority, the auxiliary power unit of the Air India plane caught fire as soon as it landed at Delhi airport from Hong Kong. This incident occurred when the plane was standing at the gate after landing safely at Delhi airport, and the passengers had disembarked. All passengers and crew members are safe following the accident.
The auxiliary power unit is a small engine that performs functions such as power supply and air conditioning while the plane is parked. Air India issued a statement saying, “The fire has caused minor damage to the aircraft, but the passengers and crew members have disembarked by then and all are safe. The plane has been stopped for further investigation.
According to a PTI report, a unit of flight number AI 315 from Hong Kong to Delhi caught fire soon after landing. The fire incident in the auxiliary electrical unit of the plane occurred while passengers were disembarking. The plane has been stopped at the airport for further investigation.
