New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has reduced tariffs on India from 25 per cent to 18 per cent. He claimed that India will now stop buying oil from Russia. If this happens, it would be a major blow to Russia’s business. India buys a large portion of its crude oil from Russia. However, India has not yet commented on Donald Trump’s claim.
Meanwhile, Russia issued a statement on Tuesday regarding Donald Trump’s claim. Russia stated that it has not received any official information from India regarding the cessation of oil purchases. This statement from Russia comes at a time when US President Donald Trump announced a major trade deal with India and claimed that India had stopped buying oil from Russia.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov categorically stated that Moscow has not received any official message from New Delhi on this matter. Peskov said that so far, they have not received any information from India regarding the cessation of Russian oil purchases.

He also said that Russia wants to further strengthen its strategic partnership with India and considers the cooperation between the two countries very important. The Indian government has not officially confirmed this.
The central government has not yet publicly confirmed that it will completely stop buying oil from Russia. According to experts, India always adopts a balanced and cautious approach regarding its energy policy. India has been receiving cheap oil from Russia for a long time, which is considered crucial for the country’s energy security.
