New Delhi: A stampede at the Lerai Devi temple in Goa caused chaos. Six people died in this accident, while more than 60 are reported to be injured. The condition of some people remains critical, where the death toll may increase. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital. The reason for the stampede is not yet known.

However, senior officials of the local police are seriously investigating it. Goa CM Pramod Sawant has expressed grief over the tragic incident. He visited the hospital to check the injured’s condition and talked to the people.

The situation became uncontrollable due to a stampede

There is a Lerai Devi temple in Shirgao village of Goa, where a crowd of devotees gathers. Suddenly, on Saturday morning, there was a stampede in the crowd, where all the security arrangements proved weak. A large number of people were buried under the debris in the stampede. In this, six devotees died on the spot, while more than 60 were injured.

According to eyewitnesses, when the crowd lost their temper, local people and volunteers struggled to save the people. The stampede occurred when thousands of devotees had come to the temple to see and participate in the centuries-old ritual. In this ritual, people walk barefoot on burning embers.
