Parliament Session Day 7 – For the first time in the history of independent India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was unable to deliver his speech in the Lok Sabha during the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address.
There were already indications that the Congress party was planning to corner the central government in the Lok Sabha. As a precautionary measure, women MPs were reportedly deployed around him as a protective cordon.

Motion of Thanks Passed Without PM’s Speech
The Motion of Thanks on the President’s address was passed in the Lok Sabha without Prime Minister Modi’s reply. The PM was scheduled to respond at 5 PM on February 4th, but the discussion could not take place due to the uproar. A response was expected today, but amid the commotion, Speaker Om Birla put the motion to a vote, and it was passed by a voice vote.

Protest in Parliament Complex
Eight members of the Lok Sabha, who were suspended for the remainder of the current budget session of Parliament, protested in the Parliament complex on Thursday. These MPs raised slogans against the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi near the Makar Gate of Parliament. The MPs held a large banner that read “PM is Compromised.” They also chanted slogans like “Dictatorship will not be tolerated” and “Narendra Modi, Surrender Modi.
