Prime Minister Ujjwala Scheme
The most successful scheme of the Modi government for women is Ujjwala Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible women are given free LPG connections. An LPG stove is given to the beneficiary for free. An LPG cylinder is given to the beneficiary for free. This scheme was started in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, on 1 May 2016. This was the first phase of this scheme. The purpose of bringing in this scheme was to improve the health of women by protecting them from stove smoke and to reduce pollution by increasing the use of LPG. The second phase of Ujjwala Yojana started on 15 August 2021. Currently the third phase of this scheme is going on.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme on 22 January 2015 in Panipat, Haryana. The aim of this scheme is to stop the decline in the girl child sex ratio and promote women’s empowerment. This scheme also helps women in cases of domestic violence. If a woman is a victim of any such violence, she is provided with services like police, legal, and medical. The victimized woman can seek help by calling the toll-free number 181.
Free sewing machine scheme
The Free Sewing Machine Scheme is not any other scheme but a part of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, under which the government is providing financial assistance to the artisans involved in tailoring clothes to buy new sewing machines. Under this scheme, the government gives Rs 15000 to women to buy sewing machines, provided you meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme.
Suman Scheme
The Safe Motherhood Assurance Suman Scheme was launched on 10 October 2019. In this, the health of pregnant women and their newborns is taken care of. This scheme was started keeping in mind the women and children of economically weaker families. Because many pregnant women of poor families die due to not getting timely treatment, they and their child die. That is why the health of such women and their babies will be taken care of through the government’s Safe Motherhood Assurance Suman Scheme.
Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme
This scheme was launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in the year 2017. This scheme has been prepared for the protection and empowerment of women. Under this scheme, work is done to empower women in every village through social participation and make them realize their potential.
