If you have internet access,you can know your UAN number online in a few easy steps:

First of all go to the official website of UAN- unified portal-mem.epfindia.gov.in

On the homepage of the website,find the section of ‘Important Links’.

Under ‘Important Links’,you will see the option of ‘Know your UAN’,click on it.

Now you have to enter your registered mobile number and the captcha code shown. After this click on ‘Request OTP’.

An OTP (One-Time Password) will come on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP in the option given on the website.

After entering the OTP,click on ‘Show My UAN Number’.

As soon as you click,your UAN number will be displayed on the screen.

How to know the UAN number through SMS

If you live in an area where there is a problem of internet,then also there is nothing to worry about. You can also easily know your UAN number through SMS. For this,you have to send an SMS to the number issued by EPFO. Type in the message box of your mobile: EPFOHO UAN ENG and send it to 7738299899.

After some time you will receive your UAN number through SMS. Note that this SMS should be sent from the mobile number registered with your EPFO. ‘ENG’ is for those who want the information in English. You can also use codes for other languages,such as ‘HIN’ for Hindi.

Why is it important

This 12-digit UAN number is very important,because without it you will not be able to access your PF account. It is only through the UAN number that you can check your PF balance,withdraw money,and avail other services related to your PF account. It is an important identifier of your provident fund.
