Delay in Boarding Can Cost You Your Seat (2)

Crores of people travel by Indian Railways every day,and thousands of trains are run for their convenience. Train travel is comfortable and convenient, which is why most people prefer to travel by train. If you also travel by train by making a reservation, then you need to know that there are some rules of the railways,if you do not follow them, then your confirmed seat can also be taken away from you.

Yes,if you do not reach your seat on time from your designated station, then you may have to lose your seat. So let’s know about this important rule of the railways in detail,so that your journey is completed without any hassle.

Rule of reserved seat in train

On making a reservation in the train, you get a confirmed seat in AC and sleeper coach. But for this also the railways has fixed some rules, which apply to all the passengers making reservations. Two-stop rule

According to the rules of the Railways,if you are unable to reach your seat from your scheduled station, then you are given a chance to sit on your seat. If you are unable to sit on your seat from your scheduled station, then you are allowed to return to your seat till the next two stations.

That is,your seat remains reserved till the next two stations. This is called the ‘Two-Stop Rule’. This rule gives some relief to the passengers if they are late in catching the train at their starting station for some reason.

The seat will be vacant after two stations

But,if you are unable to reach your confirmed seat even after two stations i.e. even after two stations from the station where your seat was, then the TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) can declare your seat unreserved and allot it to another passenger.

Therefore,if you are traveling by train, you need to know about this rule. Otherwise, despite having a confirmed seat, you will not be able to board the train successfully and the reservation money will also be spent separately. It is very important to keep track of time to make your journey smooth and successful.
