Thailand Train Accident: A serious train accident has taken place in Thailand. A crane collapse caused a passenger train to derail, resulting in at least 22 fatalities and over 30 injuries. Thachapon Chinnawong, the provincial police chief of Nakhon Ratchasima, informed AFP that 22 individuals lost their lives and several others were hurt in the incident.

The mishap happened on Wednesday morning in the Sikhio district, roughly 230 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, the capital. The passenger train was en route to Ubon Ratchathani province. Local media captured live footage of rescue teams working at the site. The vibrant passenger train was overturned and derailed, with smoke rising from the wreckage. Fortunately, the fire has been contained, and rescue efforts are still in progress.

The Nakhon Ratchasima Public Relations Department shared on Facebook that four bodies have been recovered from the rubble so far. Rescue and relief efforts are actively ongoing. Officials stated that a crane, which was being utilized for the construction of an elevated high-speed railway, collapsed onto a train that was moving from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani province, leading to the derailment and subsequent fire. As per the Nakhon Ratchasima Public Relations Department, the fire has been managed, and rescue teams are diligently searching for anyone trapped inside.
