Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Good news for railway passengers. To enhance the comfort and speed of passengers on long journeys, the industrial town of Tatanagar is set to receive two new ultra-modern sleeper Vande Bharat Express trains. The South Eastern Railway (SER) has submitted a comprehensive proposal to the Railway Board for operating these trains from Tatanagar to the financial hub of Mumbai and the cultural city of Varanasi.
To expedite this significant project, efforts are in progress to construct a new, state-of-the-art coaching depot in Tatanagar, with an investment of Rs 283 crore.
Traveling between Mumbai and Varanasi will become more convenient
The first sleeper Vande Bharat train is scheduled to operate between Shalimar in West Bengal and Mumbai. This train will travel directly through Tatanagar and Chakradharpur, traversing Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh before arriving in Maharashtra. The second eagerly awaited train will be the Tatanagar-Varanasi Sleeper Vande Bharat Express. Initially slated for a 2024 launch, this project faced delays due to insufficient maintenance infrastructure at Tata Station. The introduction of this train will greatly benefit passengers from Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.
The investment of 283 crore rupees will address the infrastructure shortfall. The South Eastern Railway is set to establish a new, cutting-edge coaching depot at Tatanagar for the upkeep of high-speed sleeper trains, costing Rs 283 crore.
At present, Tata station has only one washing line, which is utilized for cleaning and servicing the existing Vande Bharat trains. Once the new coaching depot and station redevelopment are completed, all infrastructure constraints will be resolved, allowing for the operation of numerous new trains.
Tatanagar will become a hub for five Vande Bharat trains
With the launch of these two new sleeper trains, Tatanagar Railway Station will be recognized as a key rail hub in Eastern India. Currently, Vande Bharat trains operate from Tatanagar to Patna and Brahmapur, while the Ranchi-Howrah and Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat trains also pass through this station six days a week. The addition of these two new sleeper trains will further enhance the service.
