Upcoming Nissan SUVs in India: Demand for SUVs remains consistently strong in the Indian car market, and Nissan does not want to be left behind. Consequently, Nissan’s portfolio will soon include three SUVs targeting different price points and segments: a family-friendly 7-seater C-SUV, the premium full-size Nissan Patrol, and a new Terrano designed to rival SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner.

New 7-Seater C-Segment SUV

Nissan has indicated that it will introduce a new locally manufactured SUV in 2027, following the launch of the Tekton. Positioned above the Tekton, this C-segment SUV will cater to large families and is expected to compete directly with 3-row SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar.

While Nissan has confirmed a 7-seater layout, the company may also offer a more comfortable 6-seater configuration featuring captain chairs in the second row instead of a bench seat. It is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, delivering about 161 hp and 280 Nm of peak torque.

Nissan Patrol

Nissan may bring the Patrol to India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) early next year. As a full-size body-on-frame SUV, it can challenge major rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

The cabin is expected to be packed with premium features, including 22-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, and puddle lamps. The puddle lamps may project a symbol specifically designed to highlight the Patrol’s legacy.

It is expected to feature a VR35 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, capable of producing around 425 hp and 700 Nm of torque. This engine is likely to be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system.

New Terrano

Nissan’s third major SUV could mark the return of the Terrano nameplate. This model could debut in the global market around 2028, with its launch in India expected by 2029. The new Terrano could be positioned to challenge D-segment SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner.

Nissan might consider offering it with a standard ICE engine as well as a plug-in hybrid option. This version could also compete against the upcoming JSW SUV.
