Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance: The new plug-in hybrid version of the Mercedes-AMG GT is not only the brand’s fastest road car ever, but also one of the fastest cars currently in production.
Powertrain and performance
AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 (612 hp output) paired with a 204 hp electric motor on the rear axle becomes a 4WD and 816 hp setup, more than the Ferrari 812 Superfast and McLaren 750 S and torque Is. The torque of 1,420 Nm is one of the highest torque outputs among all current ICE models.

With this setup, the car can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds, which is faster than any AMG car including the 1,063 hp One hypercar. It is one of the fastest ICE cars in production, ahead of cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo S, Ferrari SF90 Stradale and Lamborghini Revuelto. It can hit a top speed of 320 kilometers per hour, which is slightly higher than its slightly heavier soft-top model.
To power the EV motor, a 6.1kWh battery pack is provided, which gives an electric range of about 13 km on full charge and is also charged through 4-stage regenerative braking. Alternatively the battery can be charged with a 3.7kW home charger. When the car is set to Comfort mode, it starts up silently on the electric motor, but a powerful AMG-specific start-up sound is delivered into the cabin through stereo speakers.
External
The E Performance looks almost identical to the standard GT, already offered in two stateside versions with a V8 and a 421 hp four-cylinder, but with a few minor changes including red badging, aero-optimized wheels and a rear bumper. Charging port included. Carbon-ceramic brake discs are fitted as standard along with rear-wheel steering and AMG’s Active Ride Control system.
Launch in India?
There is no information on when the GT 63 SE Performance will launch in India, but the AMG brand has two models in production for our country. Both the S 63 e-Performance and C 63 S e-Performance will be launched in India by June 2024.
