Maruti Suzuki Hybrid Cars: Maruti Suzuki currently has two strong hybrid vehicles in its product portfolio; Grand Vitara and Invicto. Both models use Toyota’s self-charging strong hybrid technology, priced between Rs 10.80 lakh – Rs 20.09 lakh and Rs 25.21 lakh – Rs 28.92 lakh respectively. With an aim to make hybrid technology more accessible to the mass market, Suzuki Motor Corporation (parent company of Maruti Suzuki) is developing an affordable hybrid car for the Indian market.

These existing cars will be equipped with hybrid system

Now the company plans to introduce its cost-effective hybrid technology in small cars, including the Frontex compact crossover, Baleno hatchback, a new mini MPV and the Swift hatchback. This initiative will improve the fuel efficiency of these vehicles and reduce their carbon footprint. According to reports, the Maruti Suzuki fronx facelift in 2025 will be the first model to offer the company’s new hybrid system (HEV). While the new generation Baleno and a mini MPV based on the Japan-spec Specia will be launched in 2026. The new Swift and next-generation Brezza with hybrid technology will be launched in 2027 and 2029 respectively

What is the goal of the company?

Maruti Suzuki aims to achieve 25% sales share with hybrid electric vehicles and 15% with battery electric vehicles (BEVs). However, the major contribution to sales (60%) is expected to come from ICE vehicles as well as CNG, biogas, flex-fuel, ethanol and mixed-fuel models. At present, the company has no plans to introduce plug-in hybrid vehicles in the Indian market.

The first electric model will arrive next year

The Indo-Japanese automaker will begin production of its first electric vehicle this fiscal year, with exports to Europe likely to begin in fiscal 2025-26. This will be the production-ready version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX concept, which was showcased at the Auto Expo last year. In India, this electric vehicle will compete with MG ZS EV, upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Tata Curve EV.
