Additionally, there’s a possibility of granting additional bonuses to those who partake in every Test series throughout a season. This contemplated move comes in response to a growing trend of players prioritizing IPL over red-ball cricket, a decision often made to maintain fitness levels.
Salary Hike
Following the conclusion of IPL 2024, Indian Test players are likely to witness a salary hike. Moreover, the BCCI is contemplating rewarding players with bonuses if they commit to participating in every Test series within a season. Sources cited by The Indian Express suggest that such adjustments are under consideration due to the prevalent practice of players sidelining themselves from Ranji Trophy matches to ensure peak fitness for the IPL.
Kishan and Iyer’s Red-Ball Absence
Notable instances include Ishan Kishan’s decision to abstain from red-ball cricket for Jharkhand, disregarding the BCCI’s directive. Similarly, Shreyas Iyer, who is absent from the ongoing quarter-final Ranji match, has also followed suit. Kishan has refrained from cricketing action since withdrawing from the South Africa tour in December, with his comeback slated for IPL 2024. Likewise, Iyer is set to lead the Kolkata Knight Riders in the same tournament.

The BCCI is anticipated to formally announce the revised fee structure post IPL. Presently, Indian players receive a match fee of Rs 15 lakh for each Test match, with their salaries having been doubled back in 2016. Furthermore, players receive Rs 6 lakh for an ODI and Rs 3 lakh for a T20I. Their annual salary is determined by their respective grade in the BCCI contract list.
