New Delhi: With the general election dates announced (voting to begin April 19th and conclude June 1st, 2024), several state governments seem to be loosening their purse strings for their employees.
In a bid to woo voters, three states – Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Haryana – have announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for both government employees and pensioners. This translates to a significant boost in salaries for a large chunk of the workforce.
Haryana Announces a Whopping 4% DA Hike!
Haryana takes the cake with a massive 4% jump in DA for its employees and pensioners. This translates to a significant salary increase, propelling the DA and DR (Dearness Relief) from 46% to a much more attractive 50%.
This welcome change is retroactive to January 1st, 2024, ensuring employees start receiving their increased salaries from March onwards. The outstanding amount for the initial months will be directly deposited into their accounts.
Chhattisgarh Follows Suit with a 4% DA Boost
Chhattisgarh isn’t far behind, with a well-timed 4% increase in DA for its government workforce – a move seen as a pre-election morale booster for its 3.9 lakh employees and 1.2 lakh pensioners.
