India A suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Pakistan A on Sunday due to the failure of the middle and lower order followed by an ineffective performance by the bowlers. Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave the team a quick start, well supported by Naman Dhir, but the rest of the batsmen failed, resulting in the entire team being all out for 136 runs. Pakistan A achieved the target in 13.2 overs for the loss of two wickets. For Pakistan, Maz Sadaqat scored a brilliant half-century, finishing unbeaten on 79 off 47 balls.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi appreared as the only hope
India did not have many runs to defend. In such a situation, the bowlers had to bowl with restraint. The team’s bowlers did not have good line or length and Sadaqat took full advantage of this. He easily sent the ball into the gap and collected runs. Vaibhav gave him a life when he was on 53 runs. Before this, India had got only one wicket. Which was taken by Yash Thakur by dismissing Mohammad Naim on the third ball of the sixth over when the total score was 55. He scored 14 runs in 10 balls. He hit one four and one six.
Suyash Sharma dismissed Sadaqat on the first ball of the 10th over. Nehal Wadhera and Vaibhav together took his catch on the boundary. Nehal took the catch and threw the ball in the air as he was going outside the boundary. Vaibhav, standing nearby, took the catch. However, under the new rules, he was not given out. The umpires also did not award a run under the new rules. Suyash gave Pakistan the second blow by dismissing Yasir on the third ball of the same over and kept India’s hopes alive. This catch was taken by Yash Thakur.
However, this failed to bring India back into the match, and Fakhar hit a six off the second ball of the 14th over to seal the victory. Sadaqat hit seven fours and four sixes in his unbeaten innings.
Pakistan A team batted well
Earlier, Pakistan captain Irfan Khan won the toss and invited India to bat first. Vaibhav made his intentions clear by hitting a four off the very first ball. The other opener, Priyansh Arya, also failed in this match. He scored 10 runs off nine balls and was dismissed for 30. His successor, Naman Dhir, also played a fiery innings. Naman was dismissed for 35 runs off 20 balls, including six fours and a six. His wicket fell at 79 runs.
Vaibhav was making waves from the other end and was nearing his half-century. Then, Mohammad Faiq took a brilliant catch on the boundary off Sufyan Muqeem, sending Vaibhav back to the pavilion. This was the point where India’s innings faltered. Finally, Harsh Dubey scored 19 runs in 15 balls, including three fours, to take the team to 136.
