The 26-year-old Gill was injured while attempting a slog sweep off Simon Harmer on the second day of the Kolkata Test. He suffered neck spasms after got hitting by the ball. When initial treatment on the field didn’t provide much relief, he had to leave the field.

According to media reports, new information is now emerging: Gill has been admitted to the ICU, where all necessary steps are being taken for his treatment. Scans and MRI tests have also been completed. The Indian captain is complaining of pain in the area around his neck, which is why he has been admitted to the ICU for better treatment. Positive results are also emerging regarding his health.

Before Gill, Shreyas Iyer was admitted to the ICU

It’s worth noting that Shubman Gill isn’t the first player to be admitted to the ICU in recent days. Star ODI batsman Shreyas Iyer was also admitted to the ICU after suffering an injury in Sydney. The 30-year-old suffered a rib injury while taking a catch. He also suffered internal bleeding, leading to his admission to the ICU. However, he is now fully fit and recovering.

Gill is admitted in Woodlands Hospital

Shubman Gill has been admitted to Woodlands Hospital. Assistant coach Morne Morkel has also responded to Gill’s injury. He said, “We need to find out what caused his neck spasm. Perhaps he didn’t sleep well last night. It has nothing to do with workload.”

The coach said, “Gill is very fit and takes great care of himself. It’s unfortunate that he suffered a neck spasm this morning. We were expecting a good partnership from him at that time. The timing was poor.”
