Against a strong Bengal team with a bowling lineup including Mohammed Shami, Mukesh Kumar , and Akash Deep, Aman Rao remained unbeaten on 200 off 154 balls. His innings included more sixes than fours. He hit 13 sixes and 12 fours. Aman Rao’s double century is even more significant because he scored 120 of his 200 runs against the rising deliveries of Shami, Mukesh, and Akash Deep.
Rao’s double century was also dramatic. The match situation was such that the last ball of Hyderabad’s innings was left. Akash Deep was on strike with the ball, and Aman Rao, having scored 194 runs, was on strike. This meant that a double century needed to be achieved not with a four but with a six. Aman Rao, showing courage, smashed a six off the last ball of Akash Deep’s innings, completing his double century.
