India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is known for his explosive batting. Currently, under his captaincy, Team India is busy playing a T20I series in Australia. Even though Surya is the T20I captain, he has one regret. To address this, he has sought help from former South African great AB de Villiers. Suryakumar Yadav revealed this during an interview.

Yadav is an explosive batter for team India

Suryakumar Yadav may have established himself as one of India’s most explosive T20I batsmen, but he admits he hasn’t yet cemented his place in the ODI team. The Indian T20I captain opened up about his challenges and revealed that he hopes to seek advice from South African legend AB de Villiers on how to master both formats. Speaking on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, Suryakumar said that he often tried to approach ODIs with a mindset similar to T20 cricket, but he wasn’t successful. He said, “If I meet AB de Villiers soon, I want to ask him how he balances T20Is and ODIs. I used to think ODIs could be played like T20Is.

This appeal to AB de Villiers

Appealing to AB de Villiers, Surya said, “AB, if you’re listening, please get in touch soon! I have three or four important years ahead of me, and I’m eager to make my mark in ODI cricket. Please help me. I can’t balance the two formats.” Suryakumar Yadav has played 35 ODI innings so far, scoring 736 runs at an average of 25.76, including four half-centuries.

Meanwhile, de Villiers, one of South Africa’s greatest players, has scored 9,577 runs in 228 ODIs for South Africa. This includes 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries. Suryakumar Yadav last played an ODI two years ago. He scored 18 runs against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
