Glenn Phillips’s Injury: The Gujarat Titans suffered a big setback before their match against Lucknow Super Giants, as their all-rounder Glenn Phillips was ruled out of the remaining IPL 2025 season due to a groin injury. This is the second time a foreign player from Gujarat has been ruled out. Earlier, Kagiso Rabada returned home due to personal reasons. Now, Phillips being ruled out because of injury is another major setback for the team.
Injury Happened While Fielding
Phillips got injured while fielding during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 28-year-old cricketer was playing as a substitute in that game. He hurt himself while trying to stop a boundary. Gujarat Titans later issued a statement confirming his injury and wished him a speedy recovery. In the statement, the Gujarat Titans said, “We wish Phillips a fast and full recovery.”
Could Not Break Into Gujarat’s Playing XI
Phillips became popular during the Champions Trophy with his brilliant fielding performances. However, in IPL 2025, he could not make it to the Gujarat Titans’ playing XI. Sadly, his season has now ended in disappointment.
Even though Gujarat has top-order batsmen like Sai Sudarshan, captain Shubman Gill, and experienced Jos Buttler, the presence of Phillips gave extra strength to the bench.
