Cameron Green, who became the most expensive overseas player in the history of IPL, is being discussed in every household and office. Uncapped Indians Prashanth Vir and Kartik Sharma are being cited as examples. All of them have been showered with lavish sums of money. But consider what would happen if any of these players were to get injured before the tournament began. Imagine how much money Green, who received ₹25.20 crore, would receive if he were to get injured before the tournament began.

How much money KKR may have to pay if Cameron Green receive injury?

The amount Cameron receives will depend on when he sustained the injury and the terms of the contract. This has three aspects: 1. whether the contract has already been executed.

2. whether the player has joined the specific team camp.

3. The player sustained the injury during practice/training/warm-ups. After the contract is signed, 15-120 percent of the player’s salary is transferred to his account. Based on this, Cameron will receive an initial installment of ₹4-4.03 crore, after taxes. However, in the event of an injury, Cameron Green will have to obtain the remaining amount from the insurance company. The franchise will not pay the remaining amount.

If Cameron Green fails the medical test or gets injured before reporting to the team camp, his contract will be considered void. In this case, the franchise will pay him no money or token money (₹0-1 crore). If the franchise is unaware of Cameron’s injury or the player does not clearly disclose it, the contract can be terminated. Legally, the franchise protects itself, and Cameron will lose a significant portion of his fee. In this case, Cameron Green could receive 25 percent of his total fee.

The point is that if Green gets injured before the tournament, he will receive ₹0.1 crore, and if he joins the team camp, he will receive approximately ₹6.3 crore to ₹12.6 crore. If Green gets injured and doesn’t play a single match, he will receive 25-30 percent of the ₹25.20 crore. If he plays all the matches, he will receive the full ₹25.20 crore.
