Women’s Premier League ( WPL ) champions Mumbai Indians have strengthened their coaching team for the 2026 season . The franchise has appointed a former Australian leg -spinner as its new spin bowling coach. Mumbai Indians shared this information with fans by sharing a video on social media . The fourth season of the WPL is going to start on January 9. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions and under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the team will be looking to defend the title.

Ahead of the Women’s Premier League 2026 , Mumbai Indians have announced the appointment of former Australian leg- spinner Kristen Beams as their spin bowling coach. Beams played a key role for Australia during her playing career . Therefore, on Indian pitches , where spinners play a crucial role, she could prove to be a valuable addition to the Mumbai Indians .

In a video shared by Mumbai Indians , Kristen said, “This is my first time here as a coach. It’s a great opportunity to work with Jhulan Goswami, one of the greatest players I’ve played cricket against.”

She has coached in the WBBL and England ‘s The Hundred League . She has also coached the Australian Under-19 women’s team. She has also served as National Development Lead at Cricket Australia and Community Cricket Manager at Cricket Tasmania . Her expertise could help Mumbai Indians ‘ spinners like Amelia Kerr , Saiqa Ishak , and other young talents take them to new heights.

Kristen Beams ‘ international career began in 2014 and she played for Australia until 2017. During this time , she was the third-highest wicket -taker in the 2017 ODI World Cup, contributing significantly to the team ‘s success.
