The third round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy ( VHT) 2025-26 season is being played today (December 29) . All 38 teams are on the field. In the last two rounds , veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were in their element. This time, young players are showing their mettle. Dhruv Jurel and Kumar Kushagra (105) have scored centuries. Jurel from Uttar Pradesh played an unbeaten inning of 160 runs against Baroda , while Kushagra, captaining Jharkhand , scored 105 runs against Puducherry . Both wicketkeeper- batsmen have scored the first century of their List -A career .

Meanwhile, bowlers wreaked havoc in Jaipur. At the Jaipuria Cricket Ground , Mumbai’s left- arm spinner Shams Mulani took 5 wickets and captain Shardul Thakur took 4 wickets to bundle out Chandigarh for 142 runs. At the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Maharashtra’s Ramakrishna Ghosh took 7 wickets for 42 runs in 9.4 overs against Himachal Pradesh . The 28-year-old pace bowling all-rounder Ramakrishna bowled sharply and bundled out Himachal Pradesh for 271 runs.

Right-arm medium pacer Ramakrishna had Himachal Pradesh reeling for 34 runs in the powerplay . Pukhraj Mann (110) struck a century to revive Himachal from the early setback. However, Ramakrishna struck again in the final overs , preventing the opposition from playing the full 50 overs . Pradeep Dadhe, Rajvardhan Hangargekar , and Satyajit Bachhav supported Ramakrishna well, taking one wicket each .

Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had Ramakrishna bowl in every phase of the match , which paid off. Ramakrishna will play under Ruturaj’s captaincy for Chennai Super Kings ( CSK) in the Indian Premier League ( IPL) 2026. He has been retained by the franchise . CSK acquired Ramakrishna for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction .

Ramakrishna may not have made his IPL debut , but the franchise retained him. Ramakrishna was among the 15 players retained by CSK ahead of the recent mini- auction . Ramakrishna ‘s form is good news for CSK . He scored 73 runs after taking three wickets against Punjab on December 24th at VHT .
