SBI New Update: If you hold a bank account and have any pending banking tasks, this news is particularly important for you. A three-day nationwide bank strike is scheduled from September 28 to September 30. Prior to the strike, banks will be closed on September 26 and 27 (Saturday and Sunday). Consequently, bank branches may face disruptions to routine operations for five consecutive days. In light of this, SBI has issued an advisory for its customers.
The bank has clarified that you should ideally complete any tasks requiring a branch visit before the strike begins. Specifically, if you need to deposit cheques, submit documents, handle cash-related transactions, or require staff assistance for any banking process, do not delay. However, you can continue to carry out daily transactions using digital banking services.
Please ensure that you complete these tasks by September 25.
If you need to visit a bank branch to submit forms, deposit cheques, or hand over important documents, it is advisable to do so beforehand. Such tasks could face delays during the strike due to the absence of staff at the branches. Customers receiving salaries and pensions should also monitor their accounts and upcoming payments closely. If any payment-related task requires a branch visit, please try to complete it as early as possible. Similarly, those who might need cash during the strike should make necessary arrangements in advance.
What should salary and pension recipients do?
If your salary or pension is credited to your bank account, complete any essential account-related tasks before the strike begins. If you need to handle payments, documents, or any branch-related work, try to finish it by September 25. It would be wise to arrange the necessary cash in advance, as you may need it during the strike. You can use UPI, net banking, and other digital modes for daily expenses.
Banking operations to continue via ATMs and digital channels
SBI has advised customers to use digital banking methods. Customers can use ATMs and similar facilities when necessary and may also visit Customer Service Points (CSPs) for certain banking services. Customers can use UPI, mobile banking, and internet banking for money transfers, bill payments, and other routine transactions. SBI customers can also access a wide range of banking services through the YONO app.
Banking operations to be affected for five days
Bank customers may face significant inconvenience this time, as the strike coincides with a week that already includes holidays. September 26 and 27 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, followed by a three-day bank strike on September 28, 29, and 30. Banking operations will be suspended for these five days, although efforts will be made to maintain essential services.
