Property Tax: Big news for everyone. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced an enticing program to settle unresolved property tax cases and disputes in the capital city. Satya Sharma, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the corporation, officially launched the “Property Tax Settlement Scheme (SUNIYO 2) One Plus Seven.”
Effective Tuesday, the scheme offers taxpayers a chance to clear their outstanding tax payments without incurring any interest or penalties.
What is the One Plus Seven scheme about?
The MCD has named the scheme One Plus Seven to simplify its concept. ‘One’ signifies the current financial year’s basic property tax (2026-27), while ‘Seven’ refers to the basic property tax for the preceding seven financial years. By paying the property tax for the current year (2026-27) and the past seven years, taxpayers can eliminate all interest and penalties on overdue payments before 2019-20.
The benefits of the scheme extend until December 31, 2026
The deadline for availing the scheme is set at December 31, 2026, according to corporation officials. To benefit from the interest and penalty waivers, taxpayers must settle their principal tax by this date. During this period, the MCD will notify defaulters through SMS and messages to ensure broad awareness about this relief. Moreover, MCD officials will work with group housing societies, RWAs, market associations, and business groups to host awareness campaigns and tax collection drives.
