No UPI Day: Traders have announced a protest against the MDR imposed on UPI. The governing body of the Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal (BVY) decided to observe “No UPI Day” on October 2nd and 15th. Traders say the MDR imposed on UPI transactions is directly impacting their businesses. Traders from 17 states, including Rajasthan, are preparing to protest on this issue.
Babulal Gupta, National President of the Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal, stated that the organization’s governing body has decided to launch a movement against the MDR on UPI. Traders will begin the movement on October 2nd. Following this, all related organizations will hold protests in their respective cities on October 10th. A ‘No UPI Day’ will be observed on October 15th, marking a black day.
Traders are angry about MDR on UPI
According to traders, the government has imposed an MDR of 40 paise per hundred on UPI transactions. Apart from this, it has been said that a fixed MDR of Rs 5 per transaction will be imposed on railway, telecom, insurance, fuel and agricultural goods. Traders say that the use of digital payments is continuously increasing. In such a situation, imposing any kind of fee on transactions may put an additional financial burden on traders. Traders associated with the Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal are preparing to protest on this issue.
According to the organization, traders from 17 states will participate in the movement. Traders from 17 states including Rajasthan are protesting against MDR on UPI. Preparations are being made to take the movement forward at the level of trade organizations in different cities and states. The movement will begin on October 2. After this, protests will be held in different cities of the country on October 10. The organization has appealed to all the concerned organizations to protest in their cities. After this, No UPI Day will be celebrated on October 15. On this day, traders will register their protest against MDR by giving the message of not making payments through UPI.
The organization has decided to celebrate it as a black day. Traders affiliated with the Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal will also protest by wearing black bands. Traders associated with the Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal will not only protest on scheduled dates. They will also continuously wear black bands to register their protest. This is intended to express their displeasure against the imposition of MDR on UPI. National President Babulal Gupta stated that preparations are underway at various levels for the protest.
The organization says that traders using UPI should be given clarity regarding MDR and will discuss this issue with the government. Currently, after the protest starting on October 2nd, traders are preparing to register their protest through protests in cities on October 10th and a No UPI Day on October 15th. The Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal has claimed that traders from 17 states, including Rajasthan, will participate in this movement.
