Ration Card Update: If you are moving to a different city for work, a job, or any other reason, you do not need to obtain a new ration card. Under the government’s ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ (ONORC) scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of ration benefits at their new location using their existing ration card. Cardholders are not required to apply for a new card; they can simply visit a nearby shop and collect their allocated ration using their current card.
No need for a new ration card?
The government’s ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme allows beneficiaries to collect rations at a new location using their existing ration card. The Department of Food and Public Distribution has clarified on its social media platform, X, that ration cardholders do not need to get a new card issued. They can avail of ration distribution facilities in any part of the country using their existing card.
Check the slip when collecting rations?
When collecting rations, the shopkeeper provides the beneficiary with a slip. It is important to verify this slip after receiving the ration. You should carefully read the quantity of ration mentioned on the slip and verify it against the ration you actually received. If there is a discrepancy between the quantity recorded on the slip and the quantity received, do not ignore it. In such a situation, lodging a complaint is an option, and it will ensure that someone takes action regarding the issue.
