It is considered auspicious to wear yellow or white clothes before worshiping Maa Brahmacharini. Along with this, there is a tradition of offering white items like sugar candy, sugar and panchamrit to the mother during worship. At the same time, chanting the mantra “Om Aim Namah” while worshiping the mother is considered auspicious, as well as it brings happiness and peace in the house.

According to legends, Goddess Parvati was born in the form of Brahmacharini and performed rigorous penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. For thousands of years he performed penance by eating fruits, flowers and Bilva leaves. After this, she even gave up food and water, which also gave her the name ‘Arpana’. Lord Shiva was pleased with her severe penance and accepted Parvati as his wife.
