Laxmi Yojana: The Delhi government has approved the ambitious Delhi Laxmi Yojana scheme, providing financial aid to women. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Eligible women will receive Rs 2,500 monthly under the scheme. The official portal will be launched on August 1, with the first payment planned by Raksha Bandhan.
Timeline of Delhi Laxmi Yojana:
1. July 28, 2026: Approved by Delhi Cabinet and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
2. August 1, 2026: Official portal launch for applications.
3. Application and Verification: Applications to be verified post-portal launch.
4. Rakshabandhan: First payment expected after verification.
Breakdown of Rs 2500 payment:
– Rs 1,000 deposited monthly directly into women’s accounts.
– Remaining Rs 1,500 placed in a recurring deposit (RD) account monthly.
Lock-in period:
– The Rs 1,500 in the RD account will be locked for three years.
– After three years, the total deposit plus interest will be transferred to the woman’s bank account to encourage savings.
Eligibility criteria:
– Must be a Delhi resident for at least 10 years.
– Age between 21 to 60 years.
– Only one woman per family.
– Family income below Rs 2.5 lakh annually.
– Not receiving any other government pension.
– No criminal background.
Exclusions from the scheme:
– Government employees.
– Income tax payers.
– Pensioners.
– Women with four-wheelers.
– Women with family members having criminal records.
Required documents:
– Aadhar card.
– Voter ID.
– Family documents.
– Self-declaration confirming residency and no criminal record.
Announcing the scheme, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “Today is a very happy day for us. We have fulfilled a promise we made to our sisters in Delhi. Our sisters were present at the meeting today. Our scheme, called the Delhi Laxmi Yojana, will provide Rs 2,500 per month to empower Delhi’s sisters. It was approved in the cabinet meeting.” She also stated that applications will begin on August 1st. After this, the first installment will be released on August 28th, i.e., Rakhi.
Important points of Lakshmi Yojana
You will get Rs 2500 per month.
A budget of Rs 5110 crore was allocated.
More than 17 lakh women will come under its purview.
The government is currently implementing this scheme for three years.
Out of Rs 2500, Rs 1500 will go into RD, you will be able to spend Rs 1000.
This money will come every month in the CBDC digital app created by the government.
You will not be able to buy liquor, gutkha, cigarettes etc. with this amount.
If the beneficiary wishes, she can make an RD of Rs 2500 and will get the money along with interest.
