ATF Price Hike: Major news for everyone. Fuel prices are adjusted on the first day of each month. Today, November 1st, we saw an increase in the price of LPG cylinders, and now aviation turbine fuel (ATF) is also experiencing a 1 percent rise. This hike in ATF costs could add to the financial strain on air travelers, as aviation fuel constitutes about 40 percent of a plane’s overall expenses.
ATF Price Hike by This Much
In Delhi, ATF prices have gone up by 1% starting November 1st, now standing at Rs 138.50 per liter, up from Rs 137.12. Last month, ATF prices surged by a notable 13.22%, which is roughly Rs 16 per liter. Now, in November, there’s an additional increase of around Rs 1.25. Therefore, in just one month, ATF prices have escalated by over Rs 17 per liter.
The rise in ATF prices is a significant concern for airlines, given that fuel represents 40% of their total costs, with ATF making up 35% to 40% of those expenses. As a result, increasing fuel prices could lead to higher operational costs for airlines, potentially impacting ticket fares.

Airlines might pass on this extra cost to passengers by raising fuel surcharges following the ATF price hike. Although no official decision has been made yet, IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, has recently suggested a possible fare increase. In this context, the added fuel costs could create challenges for travelers as well.
