CNG Price Hike: Inflation has hit the pockets of CNG vehicle owners in Uttar Pradesh. Green Gas Limited (GGL) has increased the retail price of CNG in five cities of the state. The new rates took effect at 6 am on Sunday, November 1, 2026. CNG prices have increased by between Rs 1 and Rs 2.25 per kilogram in different cities.
Unnao experienced the largest hike in CNG prices
The most significant rise in CNG prices occurred in Unnao, where the cost increased from Rs 103.75 per kilogram to Rs 106 per kilogram. This means motorists will now pay an additional Rs 2.25 for every kilogram of CNG. In the capital city of Lucknow and Agra, the price of CNG has gone up by Re 1 per kilogram. Previously, CNG was priced at Rs 107 per kilogram in these cities, and it has now risen to Rs 108 per kilogram.
New prices are also in effect in Ayodhya and Sultanpur
CNG prices in Ayodhya and Sultanpur have similarly increased by Rs 1 per kilogram. The previous price in both cities was ₹105 per kilogram, which has now been adjusted to Rs 106 per kilogram.
What prompted the increase in CNG prices?
The company states that gas consumption tends to rise during the winter months. Additionally, uncertainties surrounding international supply have contributed to a rise in the procurement costs of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG). This is the reason behind the revision of retail CNG prices.
Green Gas Limited is the supplier of CNG in Lucknow, Agra, Unnao, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur.
As a result, this recent price hike by the company will directly affect consumers in these five cities. CNG prices in other regions of the state may differ based on the respective gas distribution companies operating there.
GGL is a collaboration between GAIL and Indian Oil
Green Gas Limited was founded on October 7, 2005, as a joint venture between GAIL India Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited. Initially, the company was granted permission to establish a gas distribution network in Lucknow and Agra. Subsequently, during the ninth round of bidding by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the company also secured gas distribution rights in Ayodhya, Sultanpur, and Unnao.
