These 15 polling stations include four centres under the 143-Diamond Harbour Assembly Constituency (AC) and 11 centres under the 142-Magrahat West AC, where voting will be held again on Saturday. The Election Commission took this decision based on complaints received and reports of irregularities observed during the voting process—specifically at booths where apprehensions regarding malpractices had been raised.

Election Commission Takes Action Following Complaints

Taking serious cognisance of complaints regarding rigging and irregularities during the West Bengal Assembly elections—which concluded just two days ago—the Commission has decided to conduct re-polling at 15 locations. All the booths scheduled for re-polling fall within the South 24 Parganas district.

Re-polling will be held tomorrow—May 2—at 11 booths in the Magrahat West Assembly constituency and 4 booths in the Diamond Harbour Assembly constituency, both located in the South 24 Parganas district. Before this, the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manoj Kumar Agarwal, had indicated that re-polling could be ordered in certain sensitive areas—including South 24 Parganas—based on reports submitted by election observers.

When Will the Results Be Declared?

For information purposes, it should be noted that the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections will be declared on May 4, 2026. Most exit polls have predicted that the BJP will secure an absolute majority. However, it would be premature to make any definitive statements at this stage, as exit polls in India have frequently proven to be inaccurate during past Assembly elections.
