New Delhi: Nature’s fury is being seen in Jammu and Kashmir these days. A while ago, a cloudburst caused havoc in Jammu’s Doda district, resulting in the deaths of some people. After a while, a landslide suddenly occurred on the Vaishno Devi Yatra route. This landslide happened near Ardhkuwari.
This incident happened on the route through which thousands of devotees pass. At the time of the landslide, a loud explosion sound was heard, and stones fell on the track. It is feared that many devotees are trapped in it. As soon as the news of the accident was received, there was chaos. The Shrine Board and security forces have started the rescue operation. People present on the track are being taken to safe places.
NDRF team reached the spot
There is news of many devotees being trapped due to debris falling on the track due to a landslide. NDRF teams have also reached out along with the local administration and police. Pictures of the landslide are becoming increasingly viral on social media. People are terrified seeing the horrific scene. Debris and rocks spread on the track are clearly visible in the pictures.
Amid the rain, security personnel are seen evacuating devotees with the help of ropes and barricades. Floodwater has entered the urban areas of Jammu city. It has been decided to stop the Mata Vaishno Yatra for the time being. It has been temporarily stopped; it will be started after removing the debris and stones. The movement of devotees from the lower track has also been restricted.
The situation worsened due to heavy rain
For information, let us tell you that Jammu and Kashmir have been witnessing continuous rain for the last 48 hours. A red alert for heavy rain has also been issued in Jammu and Kashmir for the next 5 hours. The threat of landslides and flash floods is expected to remain in Katra, Jammu, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda and Kishtwar districts.
