New Delhi: Following Nitish Kumar’s resignation, senior BJP leader Samrat Choudhary is set to become the next Chief Minister of Bihar. On Tuesday, he was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislative party. He will take the oath of office and secrecy as Chief Minister on Wednesday. For the first time in the history of Bihar, a leader from the BJP’s quota will occupy the Chief Minister’s chair.
Nitish Kumar has been serving as the Chief Minister of Bihar continuously since 2005. During this period, he had briefly resigned from the post of CM for approximately one year. Subsequently, he reclaimed the Chief Minister’s chair by allying with the RJD. On Tuesday, he visited the Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to Governor Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain.
Nitish Kumar’s Address at the NDA Meeting
After submitting his resignation, Nitish Kumar delivered an emotional address in which he made a significant statement. He said, “I thank you all. I have met with the Governor and submitted my resignation. A new government will now be formed, and it will continue to receive my full guidance.” He further added, “I pay my respects to Narendra Modi. Under his leadership, Bihar will advance even more rapidly on the path of development.”
Nitish Kumar Welcomes Samrat Choudhary
Following Samrat Choudhary’s election as the leader during the NDA Legislature Party meeting, Nitish Kumar extended a warm welcome to him. Samrat Choudhary was chosen as the leader of the NDA Legislature Party during the meeting. He is scheduled to take the oath as the next Chief Minister of Bihar tomorrow at 11:00 AM. The new members of the Bihar Cabinet will also take their oaths alongside him.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated Samrat Choudhary. He stated, “Heartiest congratulations and my best wishes to Samrat Choudhary on being elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Bihar. It is my firm belief that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the resolve to build a ‘Developed Bihar’ will gain even greater strength.
