Weather Update: Rain forecast in 4 northern districts on Holi. Meanwhile the Intense heat in the south will remain. It may not be officially documented, but it certainly feels like a heat wave is upon us. As the Dol festival unfolds, temperatures can soar to the level of a dry loo. Today, we’re experiencing another western storm, with cyclonic activity noted in Assam and Rajasthan, and another cyclone brewing in the southwest Bay of Bengal. An axis stretches from Madhya Pradesh to Haryana.
Rising temparature
In South Bengal, spring is heating up. The temperature in Kolkata is expected to climb back to around 35 degrees over the next three days. The Meteorological Department predicts that some western districts could see temperatures rise to 38 degrees Celsius. Over the next four to five days, maximum temperatures might increase by up to 4 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures could rise by about 3 degrees Celsius.
Possibilities of rain
In North Bengal, rain is set to begin today. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is anticipated, especially in the hilly areas. The rainfall is expected to intensify on Wednesday and Thursday, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely across all six districts: Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Uttar Dinajpur.
Scattered rain will persist on Friday in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar. Temperatures are expected to gradually rise over the next five days, with maximum temperatures increasing by two to four degrees Celsius in various North Bengal districts. Meteorologists also predict a rise in minimum temperatures by two to three degrees Celsius.
The temperature has noticeably increased, and both maximum and minimum temperatures will continue to rise. By Friday, the day of Holi, temperatures could reach between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius, with no rain expected for the time being.
In Kolkata, the night temperature is currently at 22.8 degrees. Yesterday, the maximum temperature rose by 1 degree, from 32.4 to 33.3 degrees. The relative humidity in the air ranges from 27 to 89 percent.
